The University of Zakho Holds Its Regular University Council Meeting

With the aim of advancing scientific development and ensuring the effective management of administrative and academic affairs, the regular meeting of the University Council was held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the University Presidency, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Diyar Abdulkarim Saeed, President of the University of Zakho, and in the presence of the Council members.

At the beginning of the meeting, the University President welcomed the members and highlighted the importance of the current stage, emphasizing the need for coordination and cooperation among the university’s departments and colleges.

Subsequently, the main agenda items were discussed from scientific and academic perspectives, covering the following key areas:

• Scientific Research and Postgraduate Studies: Discussions focused on developing scientific research plans, enhancing academic activities, and improving the overall quality of education.
• Student Affairs and Improving the Learning Environment: Particular attention was given to students’ daily attendance, needs, and requests. The University Council emphasized the importance of providing a suitable academic environment and the necessary facilities to improve teaching and learning outcomes, as well as addressing challenges that may hinder students’ educational progress.
• Administrative Affairs: Several administrative matters and developments related to the effective management of the daily operations of the university’s colleges and departments were reviewed.
• Members’ Proposals and Recommendations: Council members shared their observations and proposals concerning the meeting’s agenda items, making valuable contributions to the discussions and enriching the overall outcomes of the meeting.

At the conclusion of the meeting, following an exchange of views on several matters, a number of appropriate decisions and recommendations were approved to ensure the effective implementation and continued advancement of the university’s academic and administrative activities.
